Contest: Guess the littlest doe's weight

As I said in my earlier post, this doeling is the smallest kid ever to be born on Antiquity Oaks, and I thought it would be fun to have a little contest. You get to guess her weight in pounds, ounces and tenths of an ounce. For example, 2 pounds, 8.9 ounces would be a decent weight for a Nigerian dwarf kid, but this little girl is quite a bit less than that. So, tell me what you think she weighs! The winner gets three bars of my goat milk soap, shipped to you at no charge. Also, be sure to include what you think her sister weighs. (Sister's pictures are in the post below.) In the case of a tie, the sister's weight will be used as the tie breaker. So, before midnight central time Sunday, post your guess in the comment section, and I'll let you know the winner on Monday. Good luck!

P.S. If you're reading this through Facebook, be sure to put your guess in the comment section of the blog, not Facebook.

Ok she is adorable.

I don't know pretty much anything about goats, so my guess will be way off but will go with 1lb 2.4oz for her, and and 1lb 8.2oz for the sister.

I wish them all good health.

Oh, I would love some of your goats milk soap! Shula's guess is pretty good, though; about what I would have guessed. So let's see, I'll guess 1 lb. 3.5 oz for PeeWee and 1 lb. 10 oz. for Hermoine. (Get it? PeeWee Hermoine? hee!)

Very cute Deborah!! Is this the same thing that happened with Beauty's kids last April?

For my guess....let's see.... I'll guess 1 lb. o.3 oz for the little cutie and 1 lb 2.3 oz for the bigger cutie!! I have no idea! you'd think a Nigerian owner would know!

Wishing them lots of luck!

The emotional investment you're going to have in those babies is frightening! i do SO hope they both make it!

I'll guess 1lb 2.4 oz for the littlest one and 1lb 12 oz for her 'big sister'

You're all in my prayers!

OOPS! I just saw that Sula already guessed 1 lb 2.4 oz so I'll go with 1 lb 2.6 oz...

Baby doeling weight: 0# 15.0-oz.
Big sister: 2# 8.9-oz.

Oh my, she is sweet...just a wee one.

Hi! How about 5 lbs, 6 oz for the adorable little doeling? The sister? "Eight" is enough!

Thanks,

Let's see...I guess the little one weighed in at 15.3 oz, and her sister was a whopping 1 lb. 8.9 oz.

And I hope both of them manage to survive their early arrival!

Oh so tiny and cute. They remind me of the kittens that my sister saved when they were only 4 weeks old. I'll guess that the little one is 1 pound 1.1 oz and the bigger one is 1 pound 5.7 oz.

What beautiful babies! Good thoughts going out to them and their mama.

I am guessing little one is about 1 lb, .07 oz while bigger sis is about 1 lb 4.7 oz.

Thanks for the great post and fun contest.

I'm going to guess 15.2 oz for the little one, and 1 lb 5.4 oz for the bigger sister.
And they were even cuter in person than they are in pictures!

littlest one: 1 pound 4oz.
sister: 1 pound 13 oz.
I know NOTHING about goats, I'm just imagining how big a pound of hamburger looks and going from that. LOL

Well I must give it a try! How about 15.9 ounces for the little princess, and 1 lb 4.3 ounces for her sister.

Whatever the case, I hope they both grow big and strong!

Thanks to everyone who guessed! The winner and all the details are in today's blog post, but I wanted to get back and respond to the questions that some of you asked.

Michelle, you're hilarious!

WorkingGoats4, this is the first time we've ever had premies that survived, and I think that's why the mama didn't seem to care about the babies. In the case of premies before, we did notice that they were rarely cleaned off by the mamas. This is the first time we've ever made it to a birth with premies -- since we're not usually expecting them to be born anytime soon. And if we hadn't been there, there's a good chance they would not have made it.

Nancy, oh yeah! Huge emotional investment. I really hate bottle feeding babies because I always want to keep them. I did keep my first two bottle babies and probably will never part with them. It's tough NOT to get attached!
