We have left her baby with her, so we milk her, then he "gets" his share for a few hours, then they are separated. Repeat in the evening. It is a lot of milk, but, we have made all kinds of cheese, butter, yogurt and anything else dairy you can think of!

Good luck with your girls!

Jodi in SW WIJodihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15193616860910442295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21054991.post-62105053408572192132009-05-23T21:22:50.316-05:002009-05-23T21:22:50.316-05:00You must make a lot of cheese! None of us are milk drinkers, so that might make a difference. I know someone called me about goats once and said her family drinks two gallons a day.Deborah Niemannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10754242197245805551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21054991.post-70640171548092494872009-05-23T17:37:48.843-05:002009-05-23T17:37:48.843-05:00I'm very surprised to read that comment about milk...I'm very surprised to read that comment about milk here.
WE DO!!! That's how much milk my Jersey gives. We only take 5-7 gallons for us (the house), and leave the rest for the calves (she usually nurses 2-3 at a time).
When she's not in milk, we use the goats' milk (we get 5-6 gallons per day from them also).Gizmohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12536962650196564993noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21054991.post-73063473457690160692009-05-18T13:39:00.000-05:002009-05-18T13:39:00.000-05:00I wanted to go to that this weekend but we had so ...I wanted to go to that this weekend but we had so much to do at the farm, we couldn't.
