First iris

It's Sunday, and while it is certainly not a day of rest for us, I'm short on time to write, so I'll just offer you this lovely picture of the first iris that bloomed on Antiquity Oaks this spring. It surprised me with its gorgeous purple glory on Thursday morning as I was walking out to the garden.

(Note: the grass behind it was scythed by Mike two days earlier, so we can use it for hay.)

How do you store the grass that Mike scythed? I intend to cut the number of sheep that I have WAY back and then I'm going to have LOTS of extra grassy areas. I would love to be able to use the grass that I'll end up having to cut...

Thanks for asking. That's another whole post! I also need to take a picture of my new toy -- my little "hay wagon" -- so you can see it.

I am interested in a post about hay, too. Are you guys planning on storing any for winter or do you not have enough to do that? And if you are going to store it, is it any different from the usual storage for hay?
